where are you located?
the trusty rsl
La Porchetta restaurants usually have a function room available… I don’t know if there’s one in your area, but they are very good.
AMF Bowling centres are another good place… it gives the partygoers something to do.
Perhaps a nightclub in Crown. It might not seem safe but they have plenty of security guards there.
Theatre restaurants are a lot of fun eg. Witches In Bridges or Hunchbax
We live in bayside area, but city venue would be ok.
Anyone been on a yarra cruise at night? Think this could be fun, avoid gatecrashers!
I’m told you can hire the boat, but do own catering etc……just as long as the guests dont get drunk and fall overboard!!
Theatre restaurant sounds interesting…
I think the bowling might get a “lame Mum!!” comment from the daughter!!
We live close to the Hampton RSL, and I’d never thought of it! Will go have a look.
Thanx all!
also ive been to some wedding receptions at the i think beaumaris yacht club on water - opposite the place that has the expensive restaurant and a pub out the back… aaagh i cant remember name.. awesome location, and not too lame mum, its retro hip mum ! but alot of those yacht clubs on beach road are good value… views, cheap price, great location, bar…
A close friend of mine had her 21st at Draculas (theatre restaurant). I thought that was great fun; way better than I expected.
Yarra cruise sounds like a nice idea too though.
Oh, and don’t knock bowling — AMF might be a little daggy for an 18th, but when you add a bar (like Strike, or Kingpin) it suddenly seems a whole lot cooler. I can vouch for the one in Melbourne Central — I had a party there, free cocktail (when I mentioned it was my birthday) and because we had to wait 15 minutes they gave all my friends and I a $10 card (each, FREE) to use in the arcade. The other cool thing about that place, is they have automatic cameras that take photos of you as you bowl, so I had all my friends doing funny things for the camera — even friends that weren’t keen on the idea of bowling really got into it. Surprising, really!
One for all and all for one, helping everybody.
